SA20 Prize Money: The South African cricket board , Cricket South Africa ( CSA ) announces prize money for the title winner of 2nd season of South Africa T20 league about 70 millions Rand that is approximately 33.5 crores in INR.

The 2nd edition of SA 20 will be starting in South Africa from 10 January 2024. The final match of this grand event will be played on 10 February 2024. 6 different cricket franchises , MI Cape town , Pretoria Capitals, Paarl Royals , Sunrisers Eastern Cape , Joburg Super king and Durban’s super giants will compete each other to win the title of this 2nd season of this SA 20 , 2024.

Cricket South Africa Announced R70 Millions as Prize Money for the Inaugural Season of SA20

All these cricket franchises are basically owned by the Cricket franchises of the Indian premier league. In the group stage each team will play its 10 matches with 5 other teams. Every team will take on other 5 teams twice in the group stage from which 5 matches will be played on its home ground while the remaining 5 matches will be played home away.

Top 4 teams from group stage will qualify for play off level where they further compete to make sure their presence in the final of this tournament 1st match of this event will be played between Sunrisers and Joburg on 10 January, 2024. All the matches of this tournament will be live telecasted on Viacom 18 network , Sport 18, Sony six and on Jio cinema in India while in South Africa, cricket fans can watch all the matches on Super sport tv channels.

The great twist of this tournament is that all the teams are franchised by the IPL and fans are expecting a lot of aggressive competition for the championship.

Cricket South Africa Disclose SA20 Prize Money

The champions of the competition, to be announced at Newlands on February 10, 2024, will secure a substantial prize of R34 million. The second-place finishers will take home a portion of the prize money, amounting to R16.25 million, while those in third and fourth place will be awarded R8.9 million and R7.85 million, respectively. The teams in fifth and sixth place will also receive R2.5 million and R2.0 million each.

This is first for South African cricket, we have never had this type of competitive incentive in our domestic cricket and it is further indication of SA 20’s ambitions to positively impact South African cricket “ said Greame Smith.

Interesting SA20 League on Cards

Cricket South Africa would be expecting to see this SA 20 2024 successful. As earlier GLT 20 and Mzansi leagues were flopped due to several reasons. The Protease are hoping to select some batter players from domestic cricket to solve the problems of middle order in batting as every time the top order batsman would not take responsibility to make the South African team winner.

Cricket South Africa has taken an enormous risk to organize SA 20 league as they have lost their 30 points and are at risk to directly qualify for the ICC cricket world cup 2024 by discarding ODI series with Australia.
